I may have revolutionized packing without using a traditional semi-hard wheelie suitcase. mostly because I don’t own a wheelie case (except my snowboard bag), but the situation is I was packing for a wedding and vacation for two weeks in taiwan and my travel bag was my gregory palisade 80. This presented two major problems: (1) the bag is almost entirely soft, subjecting anything inside it to wrinkles and (2) I had to fit a suit in there that would de-wrinkle reasonably without taking it to a cleaner.
a lot of people like to roll their clothes to help prevent wrinkles, so why couldn’t I do the same with a suit? all I’d need is something to roll the suit around. I put my suit in a suit bag and laid it out on a table as flat as possible. I stuffed some socks into the shoulder pads to prevent them from getting crushed. I took all my shirts and pants and put them on the suit and carefully rolled the suit into the aforementioned Suit Burrito:
When I unpacked my suit, it came out nearly unwrinkled, after a day on the hanger it was completely wearable!
So of course, someone had already found the solution to packing a suit without a suitcase, however I didn’t realize it until afterwards. maybe next time I should look online before trying to reinvent the wheel.
